Applicant Information

Revolt is an established online music magazine and we are always interested in bringing on new music reviewers. We cover a wide variety of genres, including indie, punk, hardcore, metal, emo, screamo, prog-rock, pop and much much more. All positions with Revolt are non-paying and we are currently only looking for contributors based in the United States and Canada and you must be at least 18 years of age.

The ideal candidates will be on the cusp of the ever-changing music scene, with knowledge of both underground, indie and mainstream music. If you have knowledge, insight and personality, you’ll fit right in! PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU CURRENTLY RUN YOUR OWN MUSIC BLOG. Applicants should have access to high-speed internet and be internet savvy, as your review material will be sent to you digitally in .MP3 format via .zip files.

How being a contributor works: Our writers submit one review per week. Please do not apply if you cannot handle that schedule. To be considered, you must complete all information listed below. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Perks: Revolt writers are often given guest list entry to cover and review live shows. We also conduct band interviews (via in-person, phone & email) and will often offer full features to our writers, which is great for your writing portfolio. All writers are also given a section on our Biography page, which allows you to link other work, online portfolio, blog, website, etc. This is an excellent way to promote your writing!

To Apply: Please remember that Revolt maintains a high standard and you should reflect that by including a brief introduction paragraph, mentioning any/all writing experience you have and why you would make a great addition to the Revolt team. Please follow all of our submission guidelines and send to the editor:

1. Submit a sample music review (4-6 paragraphs) of a recently released album via a Word .doc. [I suggest taking a look at the reviews featured on Revolt and replicating their format to the best of your ability.]
2. Complete the following list:
-Five favorite albums released in the past year.

-Five upcoming records that you can’t wait to hear.
-The city and state in which you reside.
-Date of birth.
